Darlene Baber

Darlene M. Baber (GiGi Martin) was born in Newark, NJ to Rudolph Martin El - Amin and Phyllis Davis Martin. The family of Darlene M. Baber of Montclair, NJ announces her passing on July 15th, 2022. She leaves behind her mother Phyllis Davis Martin, husband C.K. Baber, two daughters Nina S. Baber and Khalilah N. Baber, Aunt Florence Williams, her brother Anthony Martin and Lamont Martin along with her grandson Kojo Baber Ahenkan plus many loved family and friends. 

 

Darlene was a well - esteemed College Professor for over 20 years, teaching at Gibbs and Essex County College. She loved teaching Sociology and Career Development just to name a few courses along with motivating and inspiring her students. Darlene also got the opportunity to become a paraprofessional at Montrose Elementary School teaching preschool students which she loved tremendously! 

 

Darlene enjoyed traveling to Russia, Bermuda, and throughout the United States. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the outdoors, biking, walking, and working in the garden, all these activities she loved to do with her family. One of her special favorite activities included traveling to the many New Jersey Shores!
